Bridging Science and Engineering
Hello, I’m Fred. As a System Integration Engineer and R&D Prototyping Expert with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, I bridge the gap between theoretical science and physical, automated systems to accelerate your R&D.
Having spent years running laboratory experiments myself, I know firsthand the immense dedication required for scientific discovery. My goal is to build highly reliable, precision systems that free researchers to focus completely on their core work. While based in Kyoto, I travel extensively throughout Japan to provide hands-on, on-site integration, commissioning, and consulting.
Solving Common Industry Challenges
In modern system development, there is often a costly disconnect between standard engineering practices and the strict scientific requirements that end-users actually need. Industry statistics show that up to 70% of tech projects struggle due to a lack of end-user alignment and proper commissioning [1]. When systems are built without close collaboration, they miss the mark, leaving up to 64% of features completely unused [2].
Furthermore, cutting corners on testing leads to major on-site bottlenecks; fixing a system post-installation can cost up to 100 times more than addressing it during the design phase [3]. I protect your projects and your budget from these risks through meticulous upfront planning and flawless execution.
My Approach: Science-First Engineering
I don’t just look at engineering blueprints; my process starts with understanding your scientific goals. To scale lab-proven processes into physical equipment, I provide comprehensive, end-to-end support—covering flow design, bench and pilot-scale verification, operating condition optimization, and final system fabrication.
With years of hands-on R&D experience across renewable energy, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials, I view projects through the same lens you do: as a researcher. By combining core chemical engineering with mechatronics, I deliver one-stop support across five key pillars:
Mechanical & Process Engineering: I design physical layouts that account for heat and mass transfer during reactor scale-up, building reliable fluid piping and frame structures optimized for chemical resistance and fluid dynamics.
Electronic & Electrical Engineering: I integrate precision sensor wiring to track critical parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rate, pH) and reliably connect control devices like mass flow controllers, back pressure regulators, and solenoid valves. I also design safe power routing that meets strict explosion-proof and harsh-environment requirements.
Software Engineering: I develop robust, fully automated LabVIEW programs and reliable Data Acquisition (DAQ) architectures to precisely monitor and control reaction kinetics and complex process sequences.
Control Systems & Process Analytical Technology (PAT): I finely tune PID feedback loops to maximize product yield and quality, integrating in-line analytical instruments directly into the process for smart, stable operations.
Continuous Optimization: I work side-by-side with your team to iterate and improve both the hardware and the chemical process conditions until the system perfectly meets your research objectives.
Thorough Commissioning & A "Safety First" Mindset
A project isn't finished until the system runs flawlessly in its actual environment. Because of this, I take full personal ownership of the commissioning process. I don’t just deliver hardware and walk away—I handle everything on-site, from initial startup and rigorous edge-case safety testing to the meticulous fine-tuning of critical pressure and temperature PID loops.
My absolute top priority is uncompromising safety and reliability. I bring a proven track record of leading the on-site deployment of complex pilot-scale systems (such as membrane separation units) efficiently, strictly within budget, and with a 100% clean safety record.
Your Partner in Innovation
Whether you’re in a university lab, a research institute, or a corporate R&D department, you need a technical partner who speaks the "language of science." I’m ready to help you turn your process concepts into safe, fully operational, and rigorously tested physical systems.
